Neuros 442

When a 20GB video player
just isn't big enough.

Neuros Technology is a Chicago, Illinois-based company that paves their own road. They build products that buck trends, and they go "all in" for the high-end consumer. On September 8, 2005, Neuros released the 442 to the unsuspecting public. Named after the Oldsmobile 442, a car that featured a four-speed transmission, a four-barrel carb and dual exhaust, the 442 contains a 40GB hard drive, a four-inch screen, and a dual-core prossessor. 4-4-2. Get it?
Built from the ground-up with the video enthusiast in mind, the 442 can handle multiple types of digital files—MP3, AAC-LC, JPG, BMP, GIF, WMA, WMV v9, ASF, AVI, ADPCM, MPEG4, and DivX, to name a few. Its four-inch TFT screen was a major selling point at the time, long before touchpads with much larger screens became popular. It features a headphone jack on the top, as well as video-in and video-out jacks for recording and playback.
Its dual-core prossessor was the draw of the unit, as users could record real-time video directly to the 442 with the included video-in cables, as well as push content back out to larger television screens at DVD quality. Users could also connect the 442 directly to their PCs via USB, and instantly copy over content for easy editing and storage. It's a videofile's dream come true!
