Mister Disc
Finally! A record player
I can go jogging with.
In 1983, a company called Audio-Technica released Mister Disc onto the world, and music lovers haven't been the same since. Mister Disc is a portable record player in every sense of the word—it was built to be an on-the-go music solution. Billed as being "no bigger than a man's shoe," the unit measures a slender 11" long x 3.75" wide x 2.5" tall.
Mister Disc can play both 33" and 45" speed records, thanks to its included spindle adapter kept inside of the unit. It is powered by three C-sized batteries, and can also run on AC power with an included wall power cable. To operate the unit, you unlock a latch to open the top, and inside is the needle, spindle holder, and platen upon which to house the record. It features a power button and speed selector on top, and a volume knob on the side.
There are two ways to listen to Mister Disc—you can use the included pair of headphones for a private concert, or send the tunes out to the party with the red and white female RCA inputs. But don't try to go jogging with Mister Disc though—as even a stiff breeze can make the needle jump!
