Storyline:

Policeman Dave Speed is on a routine call to serve a warrant at a remote shack in the Florida Everglades. Little does he know that he is in the middle of a nuclear missile testing range. He is hit with radiation, and survives, gaining super-human powers. Throughout the film, he realizes that he can use these new powers at his job to stop evil-doers. But the new-found powers come with one caveat: whenever he sees the color red, he loses his super-human powers instantly and completely. Hilarity ensues.

What makes it special?

This movie isn't very well-made. The storyline goes all over the place, the acting is pretty bad, and the music screams early-80's kitsch. But for its era, the super powers that the character Dave Speed displays were a thing of wonder to a young viewer. Long before computerized special effects were commonplace, all Hollywood tricks were produced by visual magic and timing. Watching a movie like this transports the viewer back to an era when movie producers and directors did things the old-fashioned way.
