2013 Insignia Scholarship

At Shield the Arts we strive to make learning affordable as possible. To help promote artistic learning around the world, Shield the Arts (STA) is, for the first time ever, offering a limited number of scholarships to eligible students that achieve excellence in both traditional and modern mediums. In 2013 we will be offering five (5) $10,000 scholarships to students that have exhibited how they have most benefited from a Shield the Arts instituted art program. These scholarships can be used for any education expenses such as tuition, books, art supplies, computer equipment or any other eligible educational-related expense. Our goal is to promote art in education but propelling students into higher art education.

In order to be eligible the student must meet these criteria:

  • Applicant must be enrolled in an educational institution that has had a Shield the Arts Program integrated into their curriculum for a minimum of one (1) year.
  • Must be in their final year of high school and must prove acceptance to an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Must submit artwork for consideration. This may be a photo of a sculpture, a hand-drawn image scanned into a computer, or a video posted online. Requirements for digitally submitted work must be under 10MB in size, or provide a link to download larger files. We only wish to receive digital copies of your work for consideration—no mailed artwork packages will be accepted.
  • All scholarship applications must include a 300-word essay explaining how the student most benefited from the inclusion of a Shield the Arts program and what the program has meant to their future.
  • Must submit a complete application no later than April 31, 2013

All entries that have met the criteria and were submitted no later than the due date above will have their body of work and their essay reviewed by a panel of judges consisting of professional artists, educators and STA board members. By May 31 the five (5) recipients of the Scholarships will be chosen and notified by certified mail.
